HISTORY
In 1977 Dr. Truda Straede of Nintu Cattery began creating
the Traditional Australian Mist over a period of more than twenty years. Strict
regulations, sound selection and defined husbandry added to a broad genetic
base. Thirty foundation cats came from a back ground of half Burmese, one
quarter Abyssinian and one quarter Domestic Shorthair. A gentle nature dilution
of colors, size and structure came from the Burmese. Ticking of the coat, two
colors and a touch of lively interest came from the Abyssinian. The Domestic
provided spots, vigor, good teeth, kidneys, mothering capabilities and
stabilizing litters sizes to around four kittens.
PERSONALITY
Dedicated to no one person or other pet in the household,
they make well adjusted family members, enjoying an indoor only life. A mild
temperament, being tolerant of handling and not inclined to scratch, leads to
pleasurable ownership and compatibility with children. They are inclined toward
relaxed, lap sitting
